Former White House Chief Of Staff Seeks To Move Case To Federal Court

Mark Meadows Files Appeal in Georgia Criminal Case

Former White House chief of staff seeks to move case to federal court

Meadows testified in court that he believed his actions fell within the scope of his job

ATLANTA, Georgia - Former Trump White House chief of staff Mark Meadows has filed his notice of appeal to the US 11th Circuit Court of Appeals in his bid to move his criminal case from Georgia state court to federal court.

Meadows is facing charges in Georgia related to his efforts to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election. A federal judge rejected Meadows' previous bid to move the case to federal court, but Meadows is now appealing that decision.

In a court hearing on Monday, Meadows testified that he believed his actions regarding the 2020 election fell within the scope of his job as White House chief of staff. Meadows said he was following the orders of then-President Trump when he contacted Georgia officials about the election results.

The judge in the Georgia case has not yet ruled on Meadows' request to dismiss the charges. It is possible that the case could move to federal court if the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals rules in Meadows' favor.
