Turkey v Portugal: Portugal boost knockout hopes with 3-1 win
Portugal beat Turkey 3-1 in their final Group A match at Euro 2024 to book their place in the knockout stages.
Portugal had already qualified for the next round, but victory means they will now face the runners-up from Group B in the last 16. Turkey, meanwhile, are eliminated from the competition after finishing bottom of the group.
Portugal took the lead in the 15th minute when Bernardo Silva fired home from close range after being set up by Cristiano Ronaldo. Turkey equalised just before half-time, though, when Burak Yilmaz headed in from a corner.
Portugal regained the lead in the 57th minute when Diogo Jota scored with a deflected shot. Ronaldo then made sure of the win with a third goal in the 78th minute.
Portugal's victory means they finish top of Group A with seven points from three matches. Turkey finish bottom of the group with zero points.
